kona_rocksFriends and athletes of WannaTri, come join us for a 30 mile easy group ride followed by a nummy, breakfast all while watching the Pro and Age group swim at Kona Ironman live on the big screen tv. ¬†Get yourself fired up for Arizona 70.3 and Ironman Arizona by watching all the action in Hawaii. If you just want to come for breakfast and skip the ride, that’s cool too. Breakfast will be served starting around 8:45am(ish). ¬†Pro male start is 9:25am Arizona time.

Ironman Race Plan, Strategy, and Contingency Planning¬†— Thursday, October 27th 2016, 6:00pm

Long Course FuelingBack by popular demand…this seminar will cover the nuts and bolts of how to execute your taper and race day to have your best Ironman race. ¬†We’ll briefly cover the science of nutrition and pacing at the long course distance (for those of you that missed our Fueling and Pacing Seminar in August). ¬† After that…
…you’ll then learn about:

  • Taper Execution — how to maximize the benefits of taper
  • Goal Setting
  • Contingency Planning – for when things don’t quite go as planned
  • Ironman Race Plan – including fueling and zones recommendations
  • Specific details and strategy on the Ironman Arizona course, logistics, weather, equipment, and transition areas. — Bring your questions

As always, we’ll have beverages and snacks. Come out for a fun and educational evening of multisport.

Coach Seth and Coach Sarah are two of only thirty Level 2 USA Triathlon Endurance Coaches in the country, a certification which specializes in the science behind long course fueling and pacing.

Open Water Swim Clinic — Sunday, September 11th¬†2016, 4:00pm, Rattlesnake Cove, Bartlett Lake, Arizona

Come put theory into practice in a friendly environment! This clinic is free and open to all¬†swimmers 18 and older. We’ll meet on the beach at Rattlesnake Cove at Bartlett Lake at 4:00pm. Just look for our tent.

Most likely, wetsuits will be allowed for this clinic, though you probably will be comfortable without one as well. If you don’t feel comfortable swimming 500 to 700 yards (in smaller segments of up to 200 yards with breaks), you should wait for a future clinic.

Remember you need to buy a Tonto Pass for $8 before entering the park. You can now buy them online here or at many local retailers.

We will most likely split into two groups: those just getting used to open water and those who just want to get a group swim in. As always, everyone is welcome! For those just wanting to swim, we’ll get in the water around 4:20pm.

For everyone else, we’ll have a brief discussion prior to practicing covering the following:

  • The parts of your technique that are most important in open water
  • Sighting
  • Drafting
  • Race Strategy

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone doing a Fall triathlon to log some open water swim time in a non-race environment.

Long Course Triathlon Fueling & Pacing Seminar — Thursday, August 25th 2016, 6:00pm

Long Course FuelingFueling is often referred to as the 4th discipline of long course triathlon. If you are currently training for a half ironman or full ironman this season, this seminar is a must. We’ll cover how to get the most out of your training time by determining and practicing the pacing zones and fueling requirements (with specifics for calories, hydration, and electrolytes) that you need during training to maximize your race day performance.

Learn About:

  • Zone-based training
  • Fueling requirements for long course triathlon
  • Planning and executing a race plan
  • Factors that impact your pacing and fueling

Open Water Swim Clinic — Sunday, August 7th¬†2016, 5:00pm, Rattlesnake Cove, Bartlett Lake, Arizona

Come put theory into practice in a friendly environment! This clinic is free and open to all¬†swimmers 18 and older. We’ll meet on the beach at Rattlesnake Cove at Bartlett Lake at 5:00pm. Just look for our tent.

Due to warm temperatures, wetsuits will not be allowed at this clinic. ¬†If you don’t feel comfortable swimming 600 to 800 yards (in smaller segments of up to 200 yards with breaks) without a wetsuit, you should wait for a future clinic.

Remember you need to buy a Tonto Pass for $8 before entering the park. Check to see if you can buy them online here or pick them up at many local retailers.

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone doing Mountain Man Olympic or Half to log some open water swim time in a non-race environment.

Open Water Swim Clinic — Sunday, April 24th 2016, 4:00pm, Butcher Jones Recreational Area, Saguaro Lake, Arizona

Come put theory into practice in a friendly environment! This clinic is free and open to all. We’ll meet on the beach at Butcher Jones Cove at Saguaro Lake at 4:00pm.

WannaTri will be leading a swim technique and training session to help you with your race. ALL levels welcome: Beginners to Advanced. We’ll have something for everyone. Open¬†Water Swim Clinic ‚ÄĒ Sunday, March 13th 2016, 3:00pm, Butcher Jones Recreational Area, Saguaro Lake, Arizona

DSCN5372cCome put theory into practice in a friendly environment! This clinic is free and open to all. We’ll meet on the beach at Butcher Jones Cove at Saguaro Lake at 3:00pm. Look for the WannaTri tent. ¬†This clinic will be CHILLY so wetsuits are REQUIRED and we will be spending a shorter time in the water than we usually do for our clinics. ¬†However, if you’re doing Lake Havasu or an early season travel race like Oceanside 70.3, this clinic is perfect for you! ¬†If you are doing a triathlon later in the season, please check out our other (warmer) clinics in April and August.

Don’t have a wetsuit? ¬†Don’t like your current wetsuit? ¬†Stop by the Scottsdale¬†Tribe Multisport¬†(not the Mesa store) in the week prior to this clinic to get a FREE rental¬†wetsuit for you to “tri” (har har) just for the clinic. ¬†A HUGE thank you to Tribe for the help!

It’s highly recommended you bring your running shoes and trisuit, so you can take a 10 minute jog prior to the start of the clinic (so you’re extra warm and toasty when we swim).
