Triathlon is a Fight Club of Sorts

To the uninitiated, triathlon can seem a bit like Fight Club — some bizarre counter culture that involves self-inflicted physical discomfort.

When a coworker asks what you did over the weekend and you answer with your usual training routine or latest race their look back at you is likely a look of confusion, a shake of the head, or some other response that essentially says: “What are you, crazy? What are you running from? I only run if I’m being chased.”

Only other athletes get it. Only other athletes are in on our incredibly, wonderful secret:

Endurance sports are fun.

Unlike Fight Club, we don’t really work at keeping it a secret. In fact, WannaTri actually looks for opportunities to encourage more people to get moving. We believe that fit people are happy people, damnit!
Lately we’ve been lucky to work with a lot of converts. This summer, I’ve personally seen a handful of athletes overcome their fear of open-water swimming. Other athletes tackled first sprint, then Olympic distance races.

At this same time last year, they had yet to complete a race. Now they can’t see themselves not being involved in endurance sports.

As a coach, that’s extremely rewarding hear.

Now we’re eager work with more athletes. Regardless of what you’re interested in training for — whether it’s a 5K, an Ironman, or anywhere in between, we’d love to hear from you and help you accomplish your goals.
